About Toto
The band Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) and bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. The group took their name from a Latin word that translates to "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every style of music.
Toto's third release, Turn Back, was an unfulfilling success in 1981. However, they bounced back with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hit songs, including the title song and Roseanna. The album and the tour made them a household brand all over the world.
After a gap of couple of years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. It is a departure from the ballads of previous albums and includes some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
In the course of recording the fifth album, the group loses its manager and faces financial difficulties. They decide to change their name and make a new album using a new producer. Lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen is let go and replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph Williams is a natural frontman and gives the band a much-needed boost.

The following year, Toto toured with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band. This was the last time that the original members of Toto were performing together. The group broke up following this. Toto came back together for the benefit concert in 2010 to raise funds for the ALS Foundation. This was the first time that all of the original Toto members had been performing together for over 31 years. In addition to the original members, keyboardist Greg Tambu filled in for Paich and bassist David Hungate filled in for Shem Von Schroeck.
